Carolina XC (X Class) Frame features

  • Frame body meets minimum size requirement of 5" X 8" for X Class Circuit Race Rules. Frame Body is 5.81" X 8.92"
  • Frame plates cut from high quality 2.5mm, 3mm (Beef Edition) or 4mm (Super Beef Edition), 3k Twill with Matte Finish Carbon Fiber.
  • Multiple Arm configurations supported. 3D prints developed for 20mm, 21.5mm & 25mm Tubes, 20mm X 20mm Square Tubes and 20mm X 30mm Octagon Tubes. Also supports directly bolting arms between top and bottom frame plates without clamps or standoffs (4.1mm holes in all plates that can be opened up for larger bolts if needed). Note that 21.5mm tubes are all that has been currently tested. Anyone interested in testing the other mounts contact Robert Wheeler and he can work with you to refine them. Frame will allow for any arms to be clamped that fit between standoffs spaced 31mm center to center (26mm between standoffs).
  • Multiple Flight Controller mounting supported. 20mm X 20mm, 30.5mm X 30.5mm and 45mm X 45mm. Center and front mounted FC holes for 20mm X 20mm and 30.5mm X 30.5mm FC's.
  • Multiple Motor Mounting supported. Hole patterns for 20mm X 20mm, 20mm X 25mm, 25mm X 25mm and 30mm X 30mm.
  • Chamfering on one side of all plates. Chamfering to face outwards.
  • If using 3D printed parts there is an option for integrated ESC Mounts and Mini FPV Camera (i.e.:Runcam Micro Swift or similar)Mount.
  • FPV Camera Mount holes with pressnuts. Spaced 45mm X 45mm. Same spacing as MRM Reaper frame. Great 3D sells a Session Mount to fit this frame.
  • Frame CAD available as Free Download for anyone that wants to cut their own frame or make changes to it. Great 3D can cut your customized frame. Subject to Creative Commons - Attribution - Non-Commercial license. 
  • 3D Prints available as Free Download for anyone that wants to print their own parts. 3D parts should be printed with TPU at 100% infill for maximum clamping on arms. .STEP file format also available for free download for those that want to customize their own clamps. Subject to Creative Commons - Attribution - Non-Commercial license.
  • Mounting holes for popular Blue Sea Systems DualBus 100A 5 circuit Bus Bar.

You can purchase the complete frame or just the parts you want.

Pick and choose the items you want.  If you have a 3D printer and want to print your own TPU Arm Clamps you can get the STL files here.  You can also get the CAD file for the Frame here if you would like to make changes to it.  

Available Items -

Carbon Fiber Plates (Default purchase) - Includes Top (1), Bottom (1) and Top and Bottom Motor Mount (8) plates.  All Carbon Fiber Plates are made from High Quality 2.5mm, 3mm or 4mm (depending on version ordered) Carbon Fiber (3K Twill Weave, Matte Finish).  All plates are chamfered on 1 side.

Arms (Qty 4 or 6) - Arms are 21.5mm X 19.5mm X 500mm Carbon Fiber Tubes.  You can decide to source your own arms.  The standoffs are spaced 29mm apart center to center so anything that will fit between the standoffs can work.  For example 20mm X 20mm Square CF Tubes will work or 20mm x 30mm Octagon tubes will work also.  The default 3D print files can be downloaded free here.  You Can edit them to fit any type of arms you want.

35mm Standoffs (Qty 36) - You can source your own or choose from 7 different colors of 35mm X 5mm Anodized Aluminum Standoffs.

12mm M3 Stainless Screws (Qty 72)  - You can source your own or choose from Black or Silver

3D Printed Arm Clamps (Qty 16) - These are designed for 21.5mm OD Round Carbon Fiber Tubes.  You can also download the STL and STEP files here to Either Print or edit the design for different arms.  Only the 21.5mm Tube clamps have been tested.  As the other arm designs have been tested they will be offered for sale here at Great 3D.

If you are sourcing your own arms you can cut them to the following length in order to make the quad the following sizes.

  • 500mm - Approx 1050mm
  • 475mm - Approx 1000mm
  • 450mm - Approx 950mm
  • 425mm - Approx 900mm
  • 400mm - Approx 850mm
  • 375mm - Approx 825mm

    I had almost given up Looking for an xclass frame that fit my needs when I randomly stumbled upon this website through a DuckDuckGo search. I realized later that I would have had an easier time finding my way here had I just looked at frame options on the xclass racing site.

    I want to thank plastic spider and great3d for making this frame available. I ordered the 3mm thick version and am super happy with the quality I received. I still have yet to fly it but the build went really well. Great product!

    I purchased the overall frame kit with 3D printed parts. CF and Printed Parts top notch. Only one thing that didn't work out for me was the holes for the Sma Mount didn't line up with the inner body clamps. Looks like that part was printed one size too big?. Also, had to lightly file/radius the motor mount holes, was ever so slightly binding on the CF - easy fix.

    Planning on ordering another frame kit for another X Class build :)

    I purchased the XC with everything but 3D parts. Carbon fiber machining is as good as anything I've seen ( I fly several Armattan frames). All holes are clean and edges are chamfered. I printed the 3D parts and assembled, I'm using the 21.5mm arms. With the arms squeezed in the TPU clamps I'm not able to slip or rotate the arm, solid. The motor plates were not drilled for the motors I use so Robert made new plates to fit my build. I've been on hold waiting for ESCs that got lost in the mail and had to be reordered.

    If your reading this you already know how awesome the frame looks. Really hoping it holds up to the XC abuse. Joey
